It's time

I know I haven't posted anything in awhile. Sorry. Life has been keeping me busy and away from jotting my thoughts down. But I seen something that has energized me like nothing else before. It caused me to have a purpose for this blog, a new purpose. The title of this blog is attack of a nerd. It's about time that I put that name to use.

I would like to begin by saying I am proud to be an American. I wouldn't want to live any where else. I like it here and I don't see me leaving anytime soon. However, there are things that we can do to improve this great country. There are things that need to be said and things that need to be done. Otherwise, this stuff is going to be continued unchecked. And that is exactly what they want. They want to go on and let you think everything is just fine. So they put up a smoke screen and perform their ways behind closed doors.

What am I talking about? Mainly big business in general with their lobbyist at the White House. But the one I really want to talk about is health care insurance companies. Yes, your precious health care. I am in the same boat with those that pay for insurance. Every month I give money to a company in hopes that when I do get sick, they will be there for me. Which may not be the case. I have come to find out that they don't have to cover you. The insurance company can deny you and you are stuck on your own. But you're thinking, "Hey, I pay them every month for coverage. They can't deny me." Yes they can. They will find that loop hole if they can.

So, what do we do if we don't have insurance? I say go on universal health care. Everyone in America gets free insurance. Why not? We trust the government with other free services--police, teachers, postal service. We are supposed to be the greatest country in the world. But yet, some other contries (Great Britian, Canada, Cuba, Germany, France) provide health care coverage to their citizens. Why can't we have it? Oh, yeah, everytime it gets brought up in Congress, the insurance compaines start greasing the pockets of politicians. That's where your monthly payments go. Your money goes to paying off the multi-million dollar salaries of the insurance companies and greasing pockets. It's no wonder why the insurance companies want to deny people. Their money is being used up.

You might be thinking, "Why do you want free health care all of a sudden? Are you in debt? Can't you afford it?"

I care because it's wrong. The system is corrupt. The insurance companies were formed to help people. But the only thing they have accomplished is that they made a few people filthy rich for being corrupt. There is a former CEO for Humana that testified in Congress that she got paid more for denying people coverage. The more claims she denied, the more money Humana paid her. And, no, I am not in debt to any insurance or health care provider and can afford health care coverage. As a matter of fact, the only major operation that I have had in my life was about 3 years ago. I had to have my sholder relocated. And that took a whole 5 minutes to pop it back in. The process before that was a nightmare but just popping it back in took no time.

There is alot more that I could say but for right now I am going to leave it there. I just want you to get to thinking. I want you to ask questions. I want you to find out what is going on around you. Yes, this country is great but we can make it better. How? By standing up for what is right. Our founding fathers did and look what happened. The citizens of this country stood up for what is right during the industrial revolution. They got tired of big business pushing them around and mistreating them. And they bettered their way of life. We need to do that today. We need to stand up to our government and to big business and tell them "We're not going to take it anymore." We need to put them back into check. Or, we can say nothing and do nothing. We can let our kids deal with the problems of today and it will be too late. There might be no stopping anything if we don't act now. And please, leave comments on how you feel or tell me I am wrong. We can discuss whatever. I just want you to think and maybe get involved in some way. Until next time.
